My Approach

My approach is to use Alexander Technique as well as CBT to help people overcome emotional gusts, pains and difficult situations in life. Alexander Technique can be very helpful in throwing awareness into how we respond body/mind when facing challenging moments in life.

Through observation and experimentation, we will be able to understand why we react in the way that we do and take that experience through our body/mind. Alexander Technique gives us the space to sit with those emotional disturbances. In that state of non-interference, we allow ourselves to experience our thoughts and emotions rather than trying to fix them. That approach of coming back to our connection between body/mind is explored during our sessions.

CBT helps us understanding the story that we bring into the therapy session and identify our unhealthy ways of thinking that lead to emotional gusts or pains. Very often the way we feel is a consequence of our holding of unhealthy beliefs or mindsets. CBT helps shift those unhealthy habitual ways of thinking to healthier alternatives ones. In that way, we can reestablish a more balanced way of living.

The session will be an interconnection between CBT and Alexander Technique.

Every person is unique, and, in that sense, I will adapt to your needs. I trust that it is important during our sessions that we allow space to come back to a state of quietness. In those moments, I will use Alexander Technique through observation, hands-on approach, and verbal guidance. That work is experimental and often throws attention to the body and mind and how they are interconnected. Once that connection is established, we can start exploring the story that brings you to therapy. In those moments, as an Integrative CBT Therapist, we can explore thoughts, behaviours, emotions and find different tools that can help you deal with whatever problems you are facing.

You can find more information about the session in the section “About the session”.
