Therapist in Westbourne Park – Somatic CBT North West London

Looking for a therapist near Westbourne Park who works with both mind and body? I'm Carlos Monteiro, a somatic cognitive therapist based between Maida Vale and St John's Wood in NW8, a short journey from Westbourne Park. I work with young professionals dealing with low confidence, people pleasing, and social anxiety, combining cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) with somatic, body-based practices such as the Alexander Technique.

Clients from Westbourne Park often come to me holding things together well on the surface: a demanding job, a full social calendar, an outwardly capable version of themselves, while quietly struggling with self-doubt, overthinking, or a tendency to put everyone else first.

My approach brings CBT, which works directly with unhelpful thought patterns, together with somatic practice through the Alexander Technique, which addresses the tension and postural habits that often build up alongside anxiety. The two strands work together rather than in isolation.

How I Can Help

Confidence Therapy

For those who feel held back, second-guess themselves, or struggle to feel fully like themselves at work or in daily life.

People Pleasing Therapy

For those who over-extend, struggle to say no, or put everyone else's needs first at cost to themselves.

Social Anxiety Therapist

For those who feel on edge around others, hold back in social situations, or struggle to speak up freely.

CBT Therapy

Practical, structured support for changing the thought patterns and beliefs that keep you stuck.

Somatic Therapy

Body-based awareness to help you notice and release the physical patterns that accompany stress and self-doubt.

Anxiety Therapy

Support for those who overthink, feel overwhelmed, or carry a persistent sense of unease into work and daily life.

My Approach

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) gives you a structured way of identifying and working with the thought patterns that keep self-doubt and anxiety in place.

Somatic practice (Alexander Technique) works with how stress and anxiety show up physically, through held tension, shallow breathing, and habitual posture.

Bringing the two together means we address both what's going on in your thinking and what's held in your body.

What to Expect

Sessions are 50 minutes and take place at my practice between Maida Vale and St John's Wood. We begin with a free 20-minute consultation to talk through what's brought you to therapy and whether this way of working suits you. The approach from there is practical and collaborative.

Getting Here from Westbourne Park

Westbourne Park station is served by the Hammersmith & City and Circle lines. The most direct route to my practice is two stops to Paddington, then a change onto the Bakerloo line towards Maida Vale, followed by a short walk. Door to door, allow around 20 minutes. Bus routes along Great Western Road also connect towards Maida Vale for those who'd rather avoid changing lines. On-street parking near the practice is limited.
