Therapist in Little Venice – Somatic CBT West London
Looking for a therapist near Little Venice?
I'm Carlos Monteiro, a somatic cognitive therapist with a practice just a short walk from the canal-side streets of Little Venice. My practice sits conveniently between Maida Vale and St John's Wood – making it one of the most accessible therapy locations for W9 residents. If you're a young professional living or working in this part of West London, and you're finding that workplace stress, anxiety, or a quiet loss of confidence is beginning to affect your daily life, I'd be glad to help.
My approach combines cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) with somatic practices, particularly the Alexander Technique. This means we work with both what's happening in your mind – the thought loops, self-doubt, and pressure – and how it's showing up in your body. Tension in your shoulders. Shallow breathing before a difficult meeting. The physical habits that keep stress going long after the working day ends. Together, these approaches address the full picture. My practice is just a 5–7 minute walk from Warwick Avenue Underground station, making it genuinely easy to reach from Little Venice and the surrounding area.
Serving Little Venice & Surrounding Areas
My practice supports clients from across this part of West London, including
- Little Venice (W9),
- Maida Vale,
- Warwick Avenue,
- Paddington,
- Westbourne Park,
and the wider Westminster and Brent border areas.
Supporting Young Professionals
Many of my clients come to me navigating challenges that are very common among driven, capable people – yet rarely talked about openly:
- Managing relentless workplace pressure and avoiding burnout
- Overcoming anxiety and the worry that never quite switches off
- Building genuine confidence and quieting the inner critic
- Working through imposter syndrome and performance anxiety
- Addressing physical symptoms – tension, breathing difficulties, fatigue
- Navigating career transitions or increased professional responsibility
- Finding a sustainable balance between ambition and wellbeing
My Integrative Approach
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT):
CBT helps us explore the thinking patterns and beliefs that fuel stress and anxiety. We look at how your interpretations of situations shape your feelings and responses, and develop practical tools to shift unhelpful cycles.
Somatic Practices – The Alexander Technique:
Stress isn't only psychological. The Alexander Technique works with the physical dimension – how you hold yourself under pressure, how tension accumulates in the body, and how subtle shifts in posture and breathing can genuinely change how you feel. Combined, these two approaches offer something more complete than either alone.

What to Expect
Sessions are 50 minutes and take place at my practice between Maida Vale and St John's Wood. We begin with an initial consultation to understand your goals and what you'd most like to change. From there, the work is collaborative and practical – you'll leave with tools you can use straight away, alongside deeper work on the patterns that tend to keep things stuck.
Getting Here from Little Venice
Warwick Avenue Underground (Bakerloo Line) is your closest station – a 5 to 7 minute walk from the practice. Maida Vale station is similarly close.
If you're travelling by bus, several routes along Elgin Avenue and Harrow Road connect the area well.
Limited street parking is also available nearby.

About Me
I'm a qualified cognitive behavioural therapist and a certified Alexander Technique teacher, with a focus on supporting young professionals through stress, anxiety, and confidence challenges. My dual training in psychological and somatic approaches means I'm able to work with the whole person, not just the presenting problem.
